The Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) is proud to announce the music and merriment will once again fill the air at the 22nd opening of our beloved Downtown Coos Bay Farmers Market on May 4, 2022, with a live radio broadcast with KShore 97.3 FM. We are nestled right in the heart of the Historic Coos Bay Downtown District every Wednesday, May 4th – Oct 26th, 9 am-2 pm. Residents, tourists, family, and friends can stroll Central Avenue between 101 South and 3rd street enjoying the easily accessible open-air market with the opportunity to buy fresh local fruits and veggies, farm favorites of honey and eggs, homemade baked goodies, jams, candy, and enjoying a bite to eat at our famous Food Court. Our local artisans offer a wide variety of unique handcrafted treasures as well.

The CBDA Farmers Market will be filled with brand new programs as well as some tried and true favorites will be back in full swing this season including Product Sampling, Demonstrations, Music, Entertainment, and Children’s programs. So It Goes Coffeehouse will keep the musical vibe going with “Music at the Market” featuring a lively variety of music from various bands and performers. The brand new Healthy Eating program, open to everyone, will feature local guest Chefs demonstrating healthy recipes, giving everyone a tasty sample, and the recipe with a voucher for a free ingredient from the CBDA Farmers Market to share with family and friends at home.

“Farm Fresh to Every Fork” will continue to be the goal as the CBDA Food Accessibility program has expanded and is better than ever this season with the help of grants and our generous sponsors, Junior Alvarado Trucking, E.L. Edwards, NW Natural, South Coast Family Dentistry, and Ziply Fiber. WIC and Senior Nutritional Vouchers are welcome and happily accepted at the Farmers Market. The SNAP/EBT program will be available with a $20 Double Up Food Buck (DUFB) fruit and veggie match and a $10 CBDA Staple food match.

Melissa Hasart, Market Manager replied, “Our customers can bring their EBT/SNAP card to the Farmers Market informational booth where we will process $20 on their card. They will receive $20 in CBDA Market tokens to be used on any item in the market they would normally buy on their EBT/SNAP card at the store. In addition, they will get $20 in DUFB match vouchers for fruits and veggies and a $10 CBDA Staple match voucher for other staples such as meat, eggs, bread, cheese, honey, nuts, and dried herbs. This means, they put $20 on their card and get $50 worth of tokens and vouchers to use at the CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market every week, all season long.”

Come join the fun, rain or shine, as the CBDA Downtown Coos Bay Market is a wonderful place to wander on Wednesdays as we shop, eat, mingle, and explore downtown Coos Bay! Make sure to follow us on Facebook or visit the CBDA website www.coosbaydowntown.org for all the exciting additional updates!
