Holiday Events in Downtown

Downtown Holiday Open Houses

Get into the holiday spirit and work on your gift-giving lists at the Annual Downtown Holiday Open Houses.
Participating businesses will open their doors on November 11th and 12th for the Holiday Open Houses. Browse participating shops for gift-giving inspirations and holiday home decor while entering to win door prizes.
Start your shopping journey at Katrina Kathleen’s Home Décor or Checkerberry’s Flowers and Gifts to pick up your Downtown Open House Map! All participating businesses are following the recommended COVID guidelines.

Bring your friend and make a day of it! While shopping, keep your receipts! From November 11 through the 26th shoppers who collect $100 dollars in receipts can turn them in on Shop Small Saturday and receive a commemorative Marshfield District mug at Jennies Shoes from 10 AM to 3 PM on November 27th.

Shop Small Saturday encourages shoppers to support their neighborhood businesses and to embrace the day as a holiday shopping tradition. Shop Participating downtown businesses and sign up for door prizes.
Shoppers who spend $100, or more, in the downtown district between November 12th and November 27th, for a beautiful Marshfield District commemorative mug. Mugs are also available for purchase for $10. A limited supply of the collectible mugs will be available, so do not miss out!

Santa, Tree Lighting and Elf at the Egyptian Theatre

Join us at the Coos Bay Visitor Center at 5ish on November 25th for cookies and cider while caroling. Santa and the Mayor will light the tree around 5:30ish, then over to the Egyptian Theatre where Santa will take the wish list from children and they get a candy cane. The movie Elf starts around 7ish. Bring clean, new socks rolled into a ball for the sock-ball fight during the snow ball fight scene. The donated socks will go to local homeless shelters. Elf will also show at 2pm on Saturday with Santa ahead of time. Then Santa goes back to the North Pole and there is a 7pm showing of Elf.

CBDA Reindeer Roundup

Join the Coos Bay Downtown Association starting on November 28th for the Downtown Reindeer Roundup. Ruckus has convinced Santa’s reindeer to explore downtown instead of going back to the north pole following Santa’s visit. The reindeer will be hiding in businesses downtown.
Find the reindeer in participating businesses, take a picture and then fill out an entry form to be entered to win a grand prize. (Business hours vary)

The event will end on December 21st when the reindeer will return to the north pole to help Santa deliver toys to children around the world.
